An off-campus co-op for students at the University of California, Berkeley named the 'Person of Color Theme House' has banned white guests from entering common areas of the house. A list of house rules revealed that occupants were told 'many POC moved here to be able to avoid white violence and presence, so respect their decision of avoidance if you bring white guests.' While the student house aims to have an 'inclusive' environment, the rules specifically state 'white guests are not allowed in common spaces,' according to the list, which was posted on Reddit. The accommodation, which is located close to Berkeley's campus, is a five-story, 30-room home that can house up to 56 students. But the 'rules' which were leaked on social media have caused outrage - with many people slamming the rules as 'racist' as others came forward and revealed their experience living in the co-op. 

Sanna Marin, Finland's party prime minister, has today defended her actions after she was filmed enjoying a wild night out with friends earlier this month. Ms Marin, a 36-year-old married mother-of-one, said 'nothing inappropriate' happens in footage which captured her dancing hip-to-hip in a nightclub with a male pop star at 4am, and said that 'everyone needs a fun night out'. Ms Marin also denied ever taking drugs but said she had submitted to a test anyway to prove her innocence after more footage, captured earlier the same evening, caught one of her friends using a slang term for cocaine. Journalists questioned whether she would have been in a position to make snap decisions if a crisis had begun during the party, but Ms Marin shot back that her entire time in office has been during a 'crisis - including Covid an the Ukraine war - and that she has never been called upon in the middle of a Saturday night.

Apple users were today urged to update their devices after the firm disclosed serious security vulnerabilities for iPhones, iPads and Macs that could potentially allow attackers to take complete control of these devices. The world's most valuable company said it is 'aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited' and released two security reports about the issue on Wednesday, but they have only now received more widespread attention. Security experts told users to update affected devices - the iPhone 6S and later models; and several models of the iPad , including the 5th generation and later, all iPad Pros, the iPad Mini 4 and later and the iPad Air 2 and later. The update, iOS 15.6.1, also applies to the iPod Touch 7th generation. In addition, Mac computers on MacOS Monterey are affected - with users urged to download '12.5.1'. The issues were found by an anonymous researcher in 'WebKit', the browser engine that powers Safari; and 'Kernel', which is the core of the operating system.

The sprawling 100-acre oasis in the middle of the Las Vegas desert, once a refuge to the world's most famous magic act, Siegfried and Roy - is set to be demolished and turned into a 334-unit apartment complex. It was not uncommon, that at any given point you might bump into a Himalayan tiger, or perhaps a miniature donkey whether indoors or out. Their animal kingdom had virtual run of the place with their own Olympic-sized pool and air-conditioned accommodation.

More than half of the Russian navy's Black Sea Fleet combat jets were put out of action in blasts last week at the Russian-operated Saky military airfield in western Crimea, an area Moscow previously considered secure, according to Britain's Ministry of Defence (MoD). The Kremlin is busy seeking to allocate blame for the debacle and President Vladimir Putin is struggling to hide Ukraine's success from the Russian population. This comes as thousands of Russians fleeing Crimea have streamed into the country, officials said on Friday, and as a fire at a munitions depot near the Russian village of Timonovo has led to the evacuation of two villages in Russia's Belgorod region. Roughly 1,100 people reside in the villages of Timonovo and Soloti, around 15 miles from the Ukrainian border. There were no casualties in the blaze late Thursday, Belgorod regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said.

The video was shared on Twitter yesterday and admonished by the Detectives Endowment Association, one of the largest police unions in New York City. It shows a black male cop and Hispanic female cop trying to speak with several people in the street, but being berated with insults and racist slurs. The man behind the camera called the male officer the N-word, the female a 'fake Puerto Rican', and in one disgusting aside, told her to 'suck his black d**k b***h'. More distressing than the foul-mouthed tirade is the officers' response - they calmly walked away, without so much as raising their voices.

A DHS contract award to construct security fencing around President Joe Biden's Rehoboth Beach, Del. home has jumped to nearly $500,000. The contract last year was for $456,000. Biden is currently in Wilmington, and is expected to arrive at his beach house soon.

Growing up in small-town Western Kansas, I couldn't afford to travel to New York until I was 21. When I did make my grand arrival, it was on a Chinatown bus. I paid for it out of my own pocket. On Thursday, New York City's Department of Social Services requested an extra 5,000 hotel rooms to accommodate New York's newest guests. That's on top of the 1,000 rooms the city announced they'd be renting last week at places like The Row, a four-star Times Square resort.

London's business owners and motorists have warned New York City faces a world of pain should it implement a congestion charge similar to that seen in the capital. Plans to carve up parts of the Big Apple and implement charges of up to $23 (£18.95) to enter central Manhattan were outlined yesterday as the iconic American city aims to slash the number of cars on its gridlocked roads. New York Governor Kathy Hochul is ploughing ahead with the controversial idea in a bid to raise billions - following in the footsteps of London's Transport for London which has raised more than £4bn from the congestion charge since 2003.

Yue Yu, 45, also known as 'Emily', was allegedly caught on camera pouring the drain cleaner into husband Jack Chen's drink, in newly-released footage by Chen's attorneys. Chen, 53, brought police in the city of Irvine photos of Yu supposedly pouring the Drano into his lemonade. She was arrested last week after he accused her of doing it on three separate occasions. He has since filed for divorce and asked a judge for a restraining order against the children, ages seven and eight.

San Francisco, Cleveland and Portland have the most deserted downtowns in the US as soaring crime rates in the Democratic cities scare away workers and tourists. In a recent study by the Institute of Governmental Studies at the University of California Berkeley, San Francisco's downtown area was found to be only 31 percent active over the spring of 2022 when compared to pre-pandemic levels, with Cleveland at 36 percent and Portland at 41 percent. Meanwhile, cities like Salt Lake City, Utah, Bakersfield, California and Columbus Ohio are enjoying the fastest comeback, seeing their downtown activity go up by more than 110 percent since 2019.

The late Anne Heche said last year that she had 'warned' Portia de Rossi not to get romantically-involved with her ex-girlfriend Ellen DeGeneres. Texas-based hypercar maker Hennessey has created the most expensive hair dryer on the planet. It has unveiled its Venom F5 Roadster, a convertible two-seater that will cost £2.5million ($3million) a piece and be capable of speeds in excess of 300mph. Not only is it set to become the fastest roadster on the planet, it will also be the most powerful, with the twin-turbo 6.6-litre V8 engine packing a jaw-dropping 1,817bhp.

The zebras were crossing the Mara River in the Maasai Mara, Kenya when a group of crocodiles sprung their trap. But one predator got more than it bargained for when one of the zebras bit back. One image showed a number of crocodiles laying in wait in the water as the herd of zebras was crossing through, and another captured the moment the crocodile leapt out of the water in an attempt to make the zebra its meal. But the most startling moment of the series shows the zebra biting the crocodile in the throat before the predator recoiled in pain, allowing the zebra to get out of the Mara River in the Maasai Mara, and to the safety of dry land. Other members of its herd were not so lucky, however, with pictures showing the black and white stripes of some of the animals disappearing into the river amidst a writhing of water, scales and teeth.
